Notre Dame, IN – A new free app with added security is now available for Notre Dame Federal Credit Union cardholders.  Designed to dramatically reduce debit and credit card fraud, Irish Card Shield allows members to activate and deactivate their debit and credit cards in real time from their mobile phones.

Irish Card Shield empowers Notre Dame FCU cardholders to:

• Turn cards on and off
• Designate specific locations where a card can be used
• Approve merchant categories, like grocery stores and gas stations, for purchases
• Set per-transaction limits on spending
• Set alerts for each transaction
• Allow card use only when near your cell phone

Notre Dame FCU President and CEO Tom Gryp said providing members with state of the art tools that protect them from fraud is a top priority.  “Being one of the first credit unions in the nation to offer this service was an expensive investment,” Gryp said. “But a much needed investment in order to give our members the ability to personally take control of their cards.”

Irish Card Shield is now available for download on both Android and iOS smartphones.
