Notre Dame Federal Credit Union Launching Irish Card Shield
Posted on Feb 11, 2016
Notre Dame, IN – Notre Dame Federal Credit Union announced today that it will offer a new, high tech security feature for its members that use Notre Dame FCU debit and credit cards. Designed to dramatically reduce debit and credit card fraud, Irish Card Shield allows cardholders to activate and deactivate their cards in real time from their mobile phones.
Irish Card Shield empowers the Notre Dame FCU cardholder to manage their cards in a number of dynamic ways:
- Turn cards on and off in real time
- Designate specific locations where a card can be used
- Approve merchant categories, like grocery stores and gas stations, for purchases
- Set per-transaction limits on spending
- Receive text alerts for each transaction
- Allow card use only when near your cell phone
Notre Dame FCU President and CEO Tom Gryp said providing state of the art tools that protect members from fraud is a top priority. “Being one of the first credit unions in the nation to offer this service was an expensive investment,” Gryp said. “But a much needed investment in order to give our members the ability to personally take control of their cards.”
The Irish Card Shield will be offered at no charge to Notre Dame FCU members and will be available for download for both Android and iOS smartphones this spring.
