Posted on Jun 1, 2026

NOTRE DAME, IN – June 1st, 2026 – Notre Dame Federal Credit Union (Notre Dame FCU) awarded 32 scholarships to area high school and college students for the 2026-2027 academic year. Recipients were honored during a reception held May 27th, 2026, at the Morris Inn on the University of Notre Dame campus.

This year, the credit union received 230 applications, reflecting a continued rise in need among students. The scholarship committee noted a meaningful trend among applicants: many expressed a desire to give back to their communities, pursue service oriented careers, and participate in outreach efforts abroad. Students frequently shared how blessed they feel to live in the United States and voiced a strong commitment to using their education to uplift others.

Reba Hayes, Committee Chair and Executive Administrative Assistant to the CEO, remarked, “Each year we see more students seeking assistance, and every one of them is deserving. What stood out this year was the overwhelming desire to serve – locally and globally. Their gratitude and sense of purpose were truly inspiring.” Hayes also noted the Tom Gryp, Notre Dame CEO, recognized the rising need for assistance and increased the number of scholarships from 24 to 32 recipients.

The scholarship committee, made up of Notre Dame FCU partners (employees) and members of its Board of Directors, selected recipients based on academic achievement, financial need, leadership, academic activities, and community involvement.

Tom Gryp stated, “These students embody the values we strive to champion – service, compassion, and leadership. We are honored to support their educational journeys and look forward to the impact they will make in their communities and beyond.”
