WHITING, Ind. – April 29, 2024 – Notre Dame Federal Credit Union (Notre Dame FCU) appointed Monica Nevarez as the Branch Manager at the Lake County Branch in Whiting, IN. A Hammond High School alumna, Nevarez is returning to her roots in Lake County.

With over a decade of banking experience, Nevarez is equipped with the necessary skills to help oversee the daily operations of the branch, lead team member development, and actively engage with the community.

Nevarez began her banking career in 2010 at First Merchants Bank and later joined Everwise Credit Union (formerly Teachers Credit Union), ultimately serving as the Assistant Service Center Manager, where she maintained staffing levels, supervised team members, and led ongoing team member development. Nevarez was also instrumental in ensuring the quality and professionalism of staff during interactions with membership. Her dedication to excellence and her ability to cultivate and lead in member service make her an ideal fit at Notre Dame FCU’s Lake County Branch.

In addition to her operational expertise, Nevarez has been a Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor since 2021, enabling her to help build community in Lake County by assisting members with establishing and rebuilding credit. Her involvement with Adelante, a nonprofit organization focusing on strengthening the Latino community, reflects her commitment to community engagement and making a positive impact in the lives of others.
