Introducing Chip Cards

Posted on Feb 1, 2016

Notre Dame FCU members are in for some changes to their debit cards, starting in 2016. Beginning early in the year, the credit union will initiate the roll out of Chip Cards, also known as Smart Chip or EMV Cards, to their members. These new cards are embedded with microprocessor chips that store and protect cardholder data.

During a transaction with a chip card at a chip card terminal, the chip produces a single-use code to validate the transaction—further protecting cards from unauthorized use.
