Annual Report 2019

Posted on Sep 23, 2019

Dear Fellow Owners,

Every year I sit down to write this letter to you as a reflection on the previous year. This year, I find this task even harder than usual. The events surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic have materially changed our lives for the foreseeable future and it seems somewhat irrelevant to spend time now talking about 2019. Having said that, I know how hard our partners worked last year to serve you, so I want to take a moment to recognize just a few of those contributions.

In 2019, we decided to build upon our previous honor of receiving the prestigious national Juntos Avanzamos distinction for our commitment to serving and empowering Hispanic and immigrant consumers, with a new African American Initiative. Uniting those efforts, we created a single group for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), solidifying our ongoing commitment of providing meaningful and relevant financial empowerment tools to our entire ownership group.

One of our more significant highlights of 2019 includes the opening of a new office in Phoenix, Arizona. Based on the number of Notre Dame FCU owners already residing in the state, the decision to expand to Arizona was easy. The dedicated team of Market President, Bob Phillips, Senior Manager of Business Development, Mario Elia, and Private Banker, Becky Poe, hit the ground running and are already seeing significant success in bringing the Notre Dame FCU mission of financial empowerment to the Valley of the Sun.

I could also not be prouder to work at an organization that consistently receives the honor of being named Michiana’s Best Financial Institution. In 2019, we won this prestigious award for the seventh year in a row. It is incredibly satisfying to see our partners receive such affirmation by those who continually vote us the best financial institution in town!

Lastly, I want to take a moment to simply say thank you. Never forget that as a cooperative, we are here at your behest. Hopefully, we are living up to your expectations and I, as CEO, am leading the evolution of your credit union in a way that brings you maximum benefit.

As always, if you have any questions, suggestions, comments or complaints, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected](link sends e-mail).

Continued best wishes.

Thomas J. Gryp, President/CEO
