There is an overabundance of acronyms and buzz words floating around the financial world today. One of the newest – CHSP or Certified Health Savings Professional – is a designation provided in partnership with Ascensus and the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU).
This designation identifies an individual within the financial industry for their commitment to deliver expert knowledge of Health Savings Accounts (HSA). It requires an individual to go through a 5 week long course exploring in-depth the nitty-gritty Internal Revenue Service rules, inner workings and compliance pieces of these specialized accounts.
WHAT VALUE DOES A CHSP ADD?
As a member of Notre Dame FCU, you have access to a Certified Health Savings Professional at your disposal for one-on-one Health Savings Account meetings to discuss the logistics and features of the account.
Additionally, a CHSP meets with businesses and employers throughout the year and during open enrollment season to ensure employees and their families understand how the account works and how members can use it to its maximum potential.
A valuable CHSP will break down the account in an easy to understand way identifying its true value. In addition to making sure members fully understand their account, a CHSP ensures members get the most back out of the account. This is why Notre Dame FCU raised the HSA Checking rate to 1.25% APY; one of the highest rates you will find.
WHERE CAN I FIND THIS CHSP?
Notre Dame FCU’s Certified Health Savings Professional, Kim Pedler, is part of the Business Development team and is located at the Moreau Branch. She is available to travel throughout St. Joseph County and surrounding counties to meet with employers, members, and host trainings.
If you would like to schedule a time to meet with Kim or if you would like to receive more information about Notre Dame FCU’s Health Savings Account, send her an email at KPedler@NotreDameFCU.com. To read more about HSAs, visit NotreDameFCU.com/HSA.
